Download Bank is here!

We’re rolling out a brand-new feature—the Download Bank―enabling you to save the unused portion of your Download Allowance. As part of system-wide network upgrades that started last summer, this latest enhancement lets you do more of what you enjoy online.

What is the Download Bank?
Think of it as a bank that holds your Download Allowances—the capacity available to you during a 24-hour period. Now you can ‘bank’—or carry over―your daily Download Allowance up to 2x your daily allowance (that’s up to 900 MB, depending on your plan). With your bank filled, you have the flexibility to download a little, or a lot, any time you want―it’s completely up to you!

This brand-new feature is another one of our ongoing efforts to enhance your online experience―and help you live the life you want, wherever you choose to live it. Enjoy!

If/when the download bank ever becomes operational with the NH7000S, will you be making an announcement (like via email) or do we need to keep checking?

If we do need to keep checking, on which page will the bank be visible? (Download allowance status page? System Info page? Where?)

    Thank you.

I think this download stuff (and download tokens) are a bunch of baloney. There is no consistency to this system and I think HughesNet is gouging their customers - and they know it! I have no other choice, but to go with HughesNet, no other Internet providers in my area, but I hope to move back to Colorado soon and shouldn't have to go with HughesNet ever again. Colorado is a much better state and more advanced than Arizona, so finding Internet service providers there is much easier than finding them in Arizona. Another lousy thing about having to move back to Arizona!

Oh, Bill, I'm sorry. I just don't like Arizona...my post wasn't fair, but I do have many complaints against HughesNet. Where is this download bank that they posted two months ago and how do we get on? I was with HughesNet about 5-6 years ago (in beautiful and wonderful Colorado) and I was in a very rural area at that time. There was nothing about download banks or download tokens. Once again, this is download system is B.S., and I think, it's a way for HughesNet to gouge its customers. There is no consistency with it whatsoever and no way to monitor it. Does anyone else agree with me about this?

    • Yeah, got a feeling some of us may be left out of this unless we upgrade our service and sign another 2 year contract..
    • Hi Bill
Thanks for the clarification, you are correct.
Yes a rollover, MY usage is almost always above 525 so to me that means 1050 available.
So yesterday made sure to be under 525 before refill but I already knew.
I never been accused of explaining things well haha

When will this forum get their act together and have Sticky's and lock them so we don't have 820 replies, all the other forums learned long ago...

    Hi Debbie Carpenter Howe
Any business looks to make money that's the way it is plain and simple.

Your wrong as HN has made improvements at no cost, no additional MONEY involved.
A gift as this forum shows they do care.

Are you talking a captive audience ?
Only WB is competition to HN, btw I have both and waiting for Excede or Jupiter and make a decision for one only, believe me HN shines compared to WB...

Is there a link to a "how to" guide for the download bank feature? I have a 9000 model modem, check my usage meter, and am not seeing anything "banked." Some days I only use 10% of my alotted usage so the idea of leaving at least half at the time of reset doesn't seem to be working for me. I need to know if there is something I need to do to get my extra banked. Thanks.

    silly I’m Not Sure
I may be wrong but i went to self help and came up with my opinion on this "Download Bank" feature...If your status meter is at 50 % that is your plans daily alowance.Anything over that is your rollover allowance.
I am not 100% satisfied that this is correct, I suggest someone who may understand the mumbo gumbo chit a little better go to self help and read the article on "Download Bank"..An example of this would be (My Plan) 250MB allowance would equal 50%.Yesterday i had 23% rollover for the Bank,so when the 24 hour period is up my status meter would be at 73%...Like i said from reading the self help this is the understanding i came up with.
PLEASE correct me if i;m wrong. PLEASE Read the SELF HELP TOO!!

It may have started to roll out, but must have gone flat. It does not take that long to implement. Hughes does gouge it's customers. There should be no limit. Most other internet providers are giving high bandwidth and amount of download is virtually unlimited and for a much lower price. When I first joined, it was Direcway. I could download day and night with no restrictions. Once they changed their name to Hughesnet, they implemented download restrictions and state it is because of some individuals that like to download. Hogwash. They want you to believe it is someone else's fault. It isn't. It is their greed to get more money. Think of it. If it truly were a bandwidth issue, they would not offer a restore token. Why would they? To restore the bandwidth problem again? It's about money and screw the consumer. They should be extremely thankful that there are places that don't have other services. Because I would be gone in a second.

Opinion are like belly buttons, everyone has one. The only difference here is that we are comparing human and cartoon belly buttons and expecting them to be the same.
Satellite internet is not the same as any ground based internet. Never has been and never will be.

Well........... No one is happy with Hughes Net. What a shame. Why do you continue your service with them and paying them money every month? I know the reply so don't bother.
I live rural and this is the best choice I have......at this time. There are others coming in the near future that will put Hughes Net to shame and for less money.
I would have to say I am happy with Hughes Net. I am getting what they said I would.
When something better comes along I will get it. As for now I will have to use Hughes Net. So all you gals and guys need to stop bashing Hughes Net.
Now.....with the future right around the corner, if I was Hughes Net I would really try to make my customers happy so they would continue their service with me. And, this is what they are attempting to do.
    So Be It!
    • No other choice out here. I can't get Comcast because they'd have to run a line out here (they did offer us one if everyone on the street (3 people) wanted to pitch in for the $4000 to have it done lol (yes I did laugh out loud on the phone when they told me and basically said they're crazy)

We have no other options. Same for satellite tv. (I'm more happy with that than the Hughes) Hughes recently did an upgrade for me and I have a 10 page ongoing "outage" diary. It's been more of a downgrade. I had very few problems with the 7000 but had it so long it finally died on me. However before that I rarely had problems with is. They sent someone out to find out what's happening and didn't have any idea what was causing the problem. That's why the diary is "ongoing"

Everyone, including HughesNet, has a new service that will be available "soon". HughesNet is no different than any other company. They supply the best service that they can and they implement the processes necessary to make those services better. Unfortunately, this takes lots of time and lots of money. I also am a happy HughesNet customer but I would also like to see more. I just try to keep my expectations realistic.

I totally agree with you, Pat!! I have been with Hughesnet now for a year and even though I have had to upgrade in order to have decent internet; my son and my husband both are able to do their gaming and stuff online without too many interruptions...I may not be happy with the idea of having to buy tokens but at the time where we live out in the desert there is not that many choices to pick from!! BE THANKFUL you are not using WildBlue...they are 3x worse than Hughesnet and run like dial-up!!! I will finish my contract out and then am considering on trying one of the newer services that are working their way to us...unless Hughes gets it together for their customers and gives us good reason to want to stay!!
    • I know, I live out in the country and there are not many choices here.More than I thought though as some "Champs" pointed out to me.Thanks" Champs" by the way for the names of the Other companies I can try.I am thankful that I have been able to squeeze the money out of set income to pay for Internet , being so ill for the last 15 years.I stop short of being too grateful when I feel I am not being treated fairly and after all they are not giving me anything I am paying for service.I also appreciate this forum so so that I have a place to voice my frustration.

I thought I was the only one having issues with HughesNet. The speed is spotty at best. All they say is "that's peak time", we stand by our speed suring peak times. So far. 11p cst, 12p cst, 4p cst, 7p cst, 9p cst, are all "PEAK" times. It would seem any time between 6a cst and 1a cst are "peak" times. Then of course the heavy congestion of free download time is peak, for everybody. TurboPage stays on the fritz.
Does anyone know anything about Exede (correct spelling)? Is it just WildBlue in a new cover? WB's plans suck, I wouldn't want them. I have called cusomter service many time about things and they dont cal you back like they say. Plus I'm tired of NEW customers getting the breaks and existing ones getting stuck with high bills. I'm not under contract and I'm looking for relible internet.
