Hi Felicia,
You absolutely can. We allow two types of suspension: general and seasonal.
General: Allows you to suspend your account during temporary non-use e.g., moving or away from home for an extended period. This suspension is limited to a maximum of two months (60 days).
Seasonal: Allows you the flexibility of suspending your account during seasonal shutdowns or periods of non-use (e.g., summer or winter homes). This suspension is limited to a maximum of six months (180 days).

is there an advance amount of time that I have to make arrangements for before a suspension of a month of service?

Hello Nichole, if you are asking if you need to call before you're ready to suspend the service the answer is no. Please call us whenever you're ready to suspend your service and we'll be able to place the suspension on your account right away. System processing may take up to an hour. Thank you, Sara

When we suspend for a general period (3 week vacation), will our Hughesnet email addresses still be functional? Still able to receive email on other computers?

Hello millsgeological, I'll go ahead and repeat my reply here as well :-)
Absolutely. You will still be able to use your email address and access your incoming and outgoing emails as long as your account is not valid (not canceled). You may access your email from any network by going to Please let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thank you, Sara

Why are there two types of suspension: General (max 60 days) and Seasonal (max 180 days)? We travel a lot year around.  Can I use General suspension multiple times a year and if we are gone more than 60 days use Seasonal suspension?  Are the rules spelled out anywhere, I have not been able to find them.
