Hi Charles

I'm in Mt Ranch,Calaveras Co.

Did you get the Hughes mailer yet?

I tried the old link: http://my.hughesnet.com/

It worked the 2nd time I tried it,the first time no.

What's up with Hughes sending out a mailer with a broken /not working link?

When I enter the new link my browser this last time did go to myhughesnet.com.

Still, the new support link isn't working if it resorts back to the old link.

It Ain't Right

Hi ecoalex, I have just accessed the link without any difficulty.
http://supportcenter.myhughesnet.com (redirects you to my.hughesnet.com).

What error message are you receiving and are you able to access the page today?

Works here too. In fact it is the link I've had as my bookmark for quite awhile.

What amazed me was this other similar page I discovered from another topic here. So many different layers.

The mailer I received which has the new link for I quote:

We've rolled out a completely redesigned online support center".

In going to the old link, and the old main page, this statement is incorrect.

In clicking on support, you go to the old logon and old support page.

My question is what's new?

Charles, that is if you don't put the "supportcenter" in front. Once again, so many convoluted ways to get to the same page.

Hi ecoalex, for Gen4 customers, you can do everything within Support Center. Legacy customers, even though using Support Center for email will still need to use the older pages such as the Customer Care pages for activities such as purchasing tokens. Suz

So Suz, you are basically saying your webpage software engineers are not intelligent enough to make one link work across all the platforms?

I must really not have a clue. Feel free to tell me so if this is the case. :)

Suz, perhaps you should read the Summer 2013 HughesNet Member Newsletter before contradicting it. "The old Customer Care portal has been phased out, so register for the new support center today. You'll be amazed ..." And perhaps the newsletters should also be distributed to customer service representatives so they'll be able to answer customer's questions about the content of the newsletters.

None of the links have ever worked well for me. Unless I use my DSL link, then they work just fine -- every time. But if I use the HughesNet satellite access, none of them work during normal hours. Oh, once in a while it might connect after 5-10 minutes. I've asked why several times on this forum, with no answers.

So there is no " completely redesigned online support center" as the mailer states.

Tim

If you have DSL,why would you also use Hughes Satellite ?

Good question, which I've answered a few times: As all satellite service is not the same, all DSL service is not the same. On our DSL link, we are limited to 1.5Mbps download, 0.6 Mbps upload (unlimited data, of course), which is OK till you put both our PCs on during peak periods. Then the rates suffer pretty bad. The DSL provider has no plans to upgrade our area and no more customers can be added, from our area. So, I was looking for a better provider -- I haven't found one yet.

I even looked into adding a 2nd DSL connection (on our 2nd phone line) because it is pretty inexpensive, but they are not adding any new DSL links.

BTW, I've already cancelled my HughesNet service (which I've only had for 24 days) and I'm just using it for the reminder of the 30 days to see if there is any reason to un-cancel.

While I used to curse at our (relatively) slow DSL connection, it is starting to look much, much better now. It may be a bit slow but it is rock-solid.

The people I know that have DSL usually thru AT&T are happy with the speed and price. It is sad however with most of the world with 10x the speed our internet operates at the question must be asked why? Europe and many countries have robust competition, something not allowed in the USA.Elsewhere unlimited local, long distance phone included with internet ,customers pay about $50/mo.This true high speed internet-30mbs+ dwn.
The providers in the US just haven't spent the $ on upgrading, instead they paid stockholders, and management salaries,at a much higher scale than in more competitive countries..

I'm having trouble understanding why one page in the Summer 2013 HughesNet Member Newsletter was devoted to exclaiming the virtues of the "completely redesigned" HughesNet Support Center ("You'll be amazed") when all that http://www.supportcenter.myHughesNet.... does is redirect to the "old" Gen4 support center http://my.hughesnet.com/ . I was briefly excited about the "new" support center.

I'm continually amazed at the HughesNet disorganization. I'll be amazed if someone isn't eventually asked for a case number before the original question is answered.

I had to go for a walk and think about this. Following is my hypothesis.

HughesNet has created a "universal support URL": supportcenter.myhughesnet.com . For Gen4 customers, HughesNet's amazing software just redirects us back to the same support center we've been using at my.hughesnet.com . "Legacy customers" (not Gen4) using that URL will be redirected to an appropriate but different URL where they will be amazed at the support center which Gen4 customers have always been using.

Can you confirm this Suz?

Hi Suz

Thanks for asking.I tried the link you posted, and went to the old customer care web page.

As others in this thread are asking;where is the new webpage touted in the mailer we received?

The new link is changed to the old link, and you're taken to the old page.

It did take quite a while this morning for the link you posted for me to try to load.

We're a curious bunch, when we receive a mailer from Hughes touting a new "exciting" web page, we try it and get the same old web page.

What We Missing Here? Is There A New Exciting Support Page Or Not?

Hi ecoalex, frankly it seems as though the mailer was meant for customers who have not yet registered in Support Center and are still registered in http://myhughesnet.com instead of http://my.hughesnet.com.

Since you've been using http://my.hughesnet.com for a while the notification doesn't apply for you.

We do apologize for any confusion.

An expanded version of the newsletter in actually online: http://www.newsletter.hughesnet.com/

On page one of the latest newsletter - http://www.newsletter.hughesnet.com/p... - the same confusion about a "New HughesNet Support Center" is being propagated (although the advertising language is much toned down versus the mailer).

I've repeatedly not been able to get logged in, faced the same issues where the link doesn't work. Today I learned via a call to Hughesnet that I can "go to supportcenter.hughesnet.com" to access my account. That is not a valid link. (I am guessing it should have a "my" in there?) Honestly, there seems to be a WHOLE lot of incompetence with this company.

This is the one for Gen4 users:
http://my.hughesnet.com/

This would be the one for "legacy" (non-Gen4) subscribers, for lack of a better term.
